eTechnician Fleet Maintenance Software
eTechnician is a wireless web-based system that enables you to remotely monitor and diagnose your on-the-road trucks and fleet vehicles. From the comfort of your home office or service bay, you can access and control your entire fleet's electronically controlled components, including engines, transmissions, and braking systems. eTechnician's scalable ASP infrastructure also allows you to start with our base-level services, then add features, including 3rd party applications, as your cost savings accumulate.
As a wireless-based communications system, eTechnician allows communications between the vehicle and a variety of end users via the Internet and a web browser, regardless of vehicle location. A powerful and comprehensive Wireless Communications Framework (WCF) underlies the eTechnician communication between the ASP facility and the vehicle. The WCF abstracts the Wireless Communication Network allowing the use of one or more systems simultaneously.
No single wireless terrestrial network has 100% coverage. The WCF allows the use of different networks, as well as the ability to have a satellite and a terrestrial system simultaneously with the least cost routing rules that allow the utilization of the system on a cost versus critical prioritization basis.
The WCF is also capable of Store and Forward message handling guaranteeing message delivery even if the vehicle is out of coverage. Message delivery is done as soon as the vehicle is detected in coverage areas.

The mobile system of eTechnician is an On-Vehicle Computer called PRISM. PRISM is an expandable custom hardware platform designed and manufactured to reside on a wide variety of vehicles with different component specifications and needs. PRISM is capable of running multiple applications while acting as a vehicle data gateway for others. PRISM is charged with three main tasks: vehicle data processing, wireless communication, and interfacing with the vehicle.
Vehicle Data Processing
The Vehicle data processing system is responsible for receiving requests from eTechnician's ASP facility and sending it to the vehicle component and vice versa. It has all the logic and intelligence to carry out vehicle-specific services such as diagnostic requests and processing. This system can be wirelessly updated to add and enhance its functionality, eliminating the need to require the vehicle to be at the service bay for software updates that enhance features and functionality.
Wireless Communication
The wireless communication system allows PRISM to send and receive data via multiple wireless networks including terrestrial and satellite. This minimizes the cost of sending data over the network.
